About the Artist

Jax Lamb is an artist and illustrator whose creative work is deeply inspired by the natural world. Growing up amidst the coastal beauty of Cape Town, the ocean has profoundly influenced his artistic vision and life.

His passion for the ocean extended beyond the shore, leading him to explore its depths as a diver. His experiences underwater have enriched his art, adding a unique perspective to his portrayal of both marine and terrestrial environments. This connection to the sea is reflected in his work, where he captures the ever-changing interplay between light and water.

His work has been featured in local group exhibitions, including showcases at the Artvark Gallery in Kalk Bay and the “Home is Where the Art Is” exhibition at Zeitz MOCAA.

Jax also illustrated the book First Light which delves into the African creation story of light and the sun, highlighting his skill in blending text and imagery in innovative ways.

He predominantly works with ink, employing a variety of techniques ranging from traditional pens and brushes to etching plates. Each method offers its own level of control and spontaneity, allowing him to produce distinct and evocative results. His exploration of ink as a medium reflects his fascination with both precision and unpredictability, creating a dynamic interplay between structure and fluidity in his art.

After spending time immersed in the vibrant depths of the Pacific, Jax is returning to land – and Africa – to focus on expanding their portfolio. They are dedicated to exploring both personal and professional projects that ignite their creativity.
